Long Island Roosevelt head coach Joe Vito has announced his staff that will lead the Downstate team in the New York All-Star Classic this summer. The first Upstate-Downstate Classic will be played Sunday, June 6th in the Syracuse Carrier Dome. Vito named Oceanside coach Rick Voight as his assistant head coach and Special Teams coordinator. “Rick has been around forever”, Vito
said. “He‘s coached in these types of games before and we needed his experience.” Rob Blount, who recently took the head-coaching job at Oceanside High School, was named the Down states Offensive coordinator. “Rob was an assistant in the Governor’s Bowl two years ago”, Vito said. “He turned Oceanside around in one season and they score points. He’s one of the top offensive guys on Long Island.” Joe Martillotti, who played at Cortland State in 1995 and 1996, was named the offensive line coach. Martillotti has coached the offensive line at Lawrence High School for the past nine seasons and was named the head coach for the coming 2010 season. Joe Supple, an assistant at Lawrence, and John Kostkwoicz, from Valley Stream High School will also work with the offense. “It’s a very cohesive staff, Vito said. These are the guys that Rob has worked closely with the last couple of years.” Sachem North head coach David Falco was named the defensive coordinator. He led Sachem to a 10-1 season in 2009. “I asked him to coach the Governor’s Bowl with us two years ago but he had prior commitments. I’m glad he’s with us this time around.” Vito Said.  Riverhead HS head coach Leif Shay was also named to the Down state’s defensive staff. Shay led Riverhead to the Long Island playoffs the past two seasons, winning a LI championship in 2008. David Caputo, Sachem’s defensive coordinator an the top assistant on Falco’s Sachem North staff, and Bay Shore HS head coach Jim Giantiano will also work on the defensive side of the ball.
