Week 7 Preview: Sachem vs. Longwood

Arrows host Lions in what should be a grueling battle of the lines.

As much as last week's game against William Floyd deserved the attention it did, many could have predicted the beating Sachem laid on the Colonials.

This week is different, however. Don't underestimate Longwood, who is the only other team to beat Floyd in Division I this year. For years Sachem and the Lions had presented numerous battles against one another.

It's hard to believe though that a team that barely beat Bay Shore last week, 29-25, could present a problem for Sachem, but Arrows head coach Dave Falco thinks otherwise.

"They are probably the best team we will see to date," he said.

Match-up: Division I: Sachem (6-0) vs. Longwood (5-1)

Venue: Fred Fusaro Alumni Stadium

Game time: Oct. 22, 7 p.m. (Senior night)

In-game battles: It's all about the offensive and defensive lines. In Sachem's corner are three backs that have accumulated over 500 yards each. Longwood has not faced a triple-headed threat such as this at all. While they're big, they will have a hard time trying to stop the best-run offense in the state.

"Their offensive line is tremendous, their running backs are hard hitting and explosive type players," Falco said. "They give you just enough offensively that you can't really load up on the run. This is going to be a huge challenge for us. Defensively they're big, aggressive and load up the box to try and stop the run."

In each of its last three games for Longwood, three different players ran for over 100 yards: Corey Wallace, Kavaughn Wiggins and Davonte Booker.
